So busy...

I have been so busy lately.. I have actually been stuff done...I have made laundry soap, fabric softener, 2 different dishwasher soap (the 1st one I didn't like), made several bags for people, working a quilt for a baby shower, running errands, kung fu, bible study and so much more...

I actually made Homemade Laundry Soap today.. I have been wanting to do it for awhile but just ran out of my stock of laundry soap... I thought it was going to be a pain and not really worth it... I have already done 3 loads and I am really liking the results... My husband is a industrial mechanic and his socks actually look great.. Being that it is working so well I decided to share it with yall... FYI! It was very very very easy to make and very quick.. It is was very cheap tomake and will last about 6 months... You only use 1tbsp per wash, unless you have a really bad load or a really full load... This went over so well I have decided that I will be making fabric softener, dishwasher liquid and hand soap tomorrow or this weekend.. Bailey and I ate at the SushiPop today.. We have been eying it for sometime.. We tried a few things from the different categories.. We got a "spider" roll, and a big Texas roll for our sushi portion (both from 2 different parts of the menu). We tried the Miso soup, and steamed rice...The food was very good, prices were high in some places not high on other things.. You get a free frozen yogurt cone.. We both enjoyed it!

Okay maybe it is just Uncle Bill's and Aunt Georgia's....
It was so fun, riding around listening to Uncle Bill talk about the animals, their habits and personalities.. He did tell me that they have no pets.. Yet he talks about them like he likes them.. He shared the parts of the property that he mows, the ones he sees bobcats in and so much more.. It was very much a fun day..

11. I dont like most sitcoms. Because they think I care what they think about politics.
12. I am a born again Christian and have been for almost 20 years.
13. I hate the cold weather! Anything under 69 is freezing.
14. I love the heat!
15. I have a military macaw, a cat and 2 dogs. (this is no longer true. 1 dog and 1 cat 2012)
16. I live in a house that was built in 1889. (this is no longer true either...my house was built in 2010)

21. I hate actors and actresses who think they are smarter than me. They think I need to know what their opions are on any given subject. If we have starving people in the world, why can't you feed them? Most of you have enough money to buy a small country, so buy it and feed them. Then you will have someone who gives a sh__ . They will care what you have to say.
22. I have an Alien Monkey Man with a Lizard Tail living in my attic. Please dont tell anyoe. I dont want them to use him as test subject. (I know longer have an attic.) I do have a Texas basement)

Welcome To Holland

I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability - to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel. It's like this......

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip - to Italy. You buy a bunch of guide books and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland."

"Holland?!?" you say. "What do you mean Holland?? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy."

But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place.

So you must go out and buy new guide books. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It’s just a different place. It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around.... and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills....and Holland has tulips. Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy... and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned."

And the pain of that will never, ever, ever, ever go away... because the loss of that dream is a very very significant loss.

But... if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things ... about Holland.

A picture of your favorite day...Really, how do I do that...I have had so many wonderful days in my life...From getting married, having 3 awesome kids, to having my first join the Army and then getting married...WOW! SO many to choose from...It would be easier to pick the saddest day for me..Okay maybe not..The first time my husband went to sea, it was suppose to be 3 weeks and turned into 3 months... Giving birthday to Bailey was awesome but her almost dying 3 days later not so much...This girl better have more than 9 lives because she has used lots of them up...Dustin coming home from having the crap beat out of him with a metal pole...The good thing about that is they didn't hurt him seriously and Tyler was not hurt...Corbin being stung by a jelly fish was funny yet sad as well..Corbin had the jelly fish wrapped around him, I told him to stay still so I could pee on him, he so was not going to have any of that. So I tried to pee in a cup, now for those of you who know me, know I can pee at the drop of a hat, well not this day...Dustin joining the Army...Dustin going off to Iraq...and the list keeps growing..

Since being in Texas

Since returning to Texas from and awesome life in the USN, I have really studied several books of the bible. When I first returned it was the book of James. WOW! Everywhere I went, everywhere I turned James was in my face. James taught me so much. I still need to work on some of the things he taught me. Unfortunately I am human and I am always working on myself to be more like Jesus and do as he teaches. I have read the book of Acts and studied it. Now I am reading the book of Proverbs and studying it. My goal is to more like Jesus and be obedient to what the bible teaches. I pray that when people see me or talk to me they know without a doubt who my master is.

Sometimes I fall down but I get up, dust off my pants and pull up my boots. That is all I can do, otherwise I don’t move forward.

Over the last 6 months I have read a book called “Deadly Emotions” by Con Colbert. It has helped me get in touch with many things in my body and mind. It has been an awesome journey and I hope and pray it will continue. It has also helped me work on balance in my life. Which is not doing well with but I am working on it and that is all I can ask of myself.

Sorry I have not written in such a very long time. I have to confess that I have been in somewhat of a funk and just could not bring myself to do some things. This is a new year and it is going to be a great year. I will start doing more things and getting more things done. I am going to use this to share lots of different things with you, anything from cooking, to my emotions, to new things I try and so on.
I am thinking I want to start a new path in my life. I am going to take some online classes for photography. This is something I can do with my children as well. I am very excited. I would also like to tell Shari thank you for the info.

Day 31 HALLOWEEN

WOW! this month went by so fast. Before we know it will be Thanksgiving and then Christmas. INSANE! The month of Down Syndrome Awareness is over today. What do I want to share with you?

Being a parent of a baby with Down Syndrome seemed so overwhelming to me and my husband. First is was what are we doing? Do we know what to do? Can we do this? It is hard enough knowing you might screw up a "typical" human. But to screw up a child that doesn't know you have screwed them up....

Being a parent of a child with Down Syndrome seemed so overwhelming again. This time its: Am I doing what is right for her or society? Am I making sure she has everything she needs to be successful in life?

Being a parent of a young adult with Dawn Syndrome is also overwhelming. I have just started this part of my life. I biggest question is: Should I make sure she has friends outside of family? Should I get her a social life? On and On...

I have some many more concerns than I ever had with my oldest child and so far with my youngest child...

If you are a parent of a special needs child please don't overwhelm yourself because it will all be good for your family and that is all that counts...

Bailey is so smart....She comes up with so many things I would have never thought of.

Here is one example. The story is about her hat.......She had cut up her pj pants, which made me not so happy, it was raining outside and she HATES rain. She saw the cut up leg piece. She said "aw ha." (this is when the light bulb came up in her head) Then she proceeded to make a hat out of it. She is so creative and so AWESOME!

Bailey has taught me so much. I think the biggest thing I have learned is patience. You can not be in a hurry with Bailey. If you try to rush her she gets very angry and hard to get along with. When Bailey has something she "needs" to do, it is so much easier to just wait and let her do it. Things will go alot smoother and so much nicer....As you can see in the picture above....Some people say I am to nice and she is walking all over me. However, when I have to mean I am and then I pay for it the rest of the day.....

I have decided to share my thoughts with yall....

Having Bailey at first was confusing, no one I knew had a child with DS. What am I going to do with her? We didn't have myspace, fb or cafe mom. All I got from the Dr. was a book on DS. Not to say that was not helpful but it doesn't prepare you for the near death stuff we have gone through....The school and learning stuff we had gone through...Just the different life stuff that we have to overcome daily....I have to say that I believe there is no book in the world that would or could prepare you for the life you will have with a special needs child...All of the accomplishments she has made and will make are so rewarding to her and us....The first time she rolled over, sat up, crawled and walked for the first time....Some of them even made me cry....Not to say my other kids accomplishments were not exciting, just a different excitement...Sometimes a long awaited excitement for the special need child......

I never had the thought why me...My thought was why her, why not me? I would have been more than happy to have taken the DS for her...Then, at 5 days old she almost died on us and I started asking God to please let her stay and I would take the best care of her I knew how....I pray that he is proud of the job we have done.....We have been doing our best everyday of her life....

I would not have it any other way!

Before I gave birth to Bailey or even before I even thought about having kids. If I had had a crystal ball and could look into the future, would I or should I use it? Would I still have picked the life I have or would I have done something to change it? I don't have the answer to this question but I do know this, I would not have been able to pick a better life for myself. Or even a better family for myself. I love my family with my entire self!

Day 11 and 12 of Down Syndrome Awareness Month

This weekend we spent the weekend in Killeen with Dustin and his Army family. We had a blast! They welcomed us with open arms. It was such a special time for all of us.

I have decided to share a Bailey story with yall. Bailey has a 2 hour bathroom routine in the morning and in the evening. I had told her to go change into her bed time clothes without taking a shower and brush her teeth. Bailey doesn't like her routine being messed with. Anyway, long story short, she was taking forever. So I went up to check on her and she was taking a bath. Next time I know to tell her NOT to get wet.

Sorry about the delay, my Uncle Stewart's memorial service was yesterday and I was there all day. We had several people standing up and saying what their fondest memories were of him. His very first friend from 1st grade was there. That was way awesome to me. There was awesome stories told. Playing football at Thanksgiving and Christmas was told by several people. So this game was for him yesterday.

Here is a poem written for him as well.

To continue loving you.
But family is forever,
So that is what I'll do.
I find it hard to talk to you
Since you went away.
So instead of just calling,

We have been very busy lately. So I wanted to share this with all of you. My son's best friend of over 10 years got married. Please keep these newly weds in your prayers. They will be apart for a few months....It is amazing how many couples in the military don't get to live together their first 6 months to a year of their marriage.

The picture below is of Dustin, Shane and Tyler. Please keep these 3 and the rest of the US military in your prayers. Shane was in Iraq and was blown up. He is still in recovery, along with his family.

We had a great time painting our Texas flags. Bailey had an awesome time painting her canvas as well. I guess this is what she sees when she sees the Texas flag. At first she wanted to paint a flag pole with the flag on it and a house. Then as she watched she decided she wanted something different. This is what she ended up with.

I have been working on paying bills off and I think I am doing pretty well considering. I am working on one of my last 2. This doesn't include my vehicle or mortgage. Those will get paid off over time.

This school year has started and so far Corbin is doing great. It is a online program by Alpha Omega, it is similar to switched on schoolhouse. If he continues with this company we will be able to get him a high school diploma, if not we will switch to one we can. He picked American Literature for his elective and we still have to pick a language.

We are taking several self defense coarse at Jade Mountain, we are there ALL the time. We are getting fit and feel great doing it. Bee is even doing the "Little Dragons" class. She will be starting dance classes soon. She will go from dance classes to "little dragon" classes. I am so excited for her.

Anyway this all I have right now.

I couldn't get these do download on facebook. So I am putting them on here first. Besides some of you dont have a facebook account. The floor cost $132.00 and took about an 1hour and half to lay. This does not include pulling up the quater road and the old floor. The floor looks awesome. The doors were also repainted which cost roughly 6.88 for the 2 cans of spray paint. The paint was $5.00 for the Behr paint which matches the computer rooms color. I did have to purchase more primer $19.00. So for less than $200 we have a new looking bathroom.

I am really excited about this room. The paint I am using was someone elses mistake. It is a awesome color. Depending on the time of day to what color it wants to be. It is Bher paint and cost me $5.00 a gallon. WOW! I wasn't real sure if this dark of a color would work but it is great! All else fails paint over it and try again. I love it!!!! I still have one spot to do but the rest of the room is done. I think next I am going to repaint the bathroom off the living room.

Our new chickens came today. They are so cute and very noise. We spent so much money we got 2 extras. One is this realy cute fuzzy yellow chicken. It is in there exotic line of chickens. I am not sure what makes them exoic but it sure is cute. We will find out more about it as it grows up.

Memorial Day Party at The Hall's

Uncle Bill served in the Korean War as an Army Soldier.

Douglas served in the Navy for 23 years mostly on submarine duty. He served during Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Iraq Freedom.

Dustin is currently serving and will be headed to Iraq in Sept. 2009. I love them all and all of the other service members. I thank everyone past, present and future for my freedom in this great counrty.

We had a great time this weekend. We had great fellowship, we had a great message, some very easy and fun crafts and great food. However, next time I will be doing a few things a little differently. Like purchase as much of the food at least a week ahead of time. I felt like I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Another thing is make it to the place we are holding it way before everyone else, so that I can rest.
We had a few extra women this year and we all hope they will come every year. We really want to go and be able to touch more womens lives. Please keep our group in your prayers always!

There are tornados in Bellville right now. I hear they are heading down to the southern part of Austin County. The sky outside my house is gray and yellowish in color. I tried to take a picture but it didn't come out because the gray is so bright. I wanted a good picture because it makes my house look haunted. Not to say it is or its not, but it looks like it. I have been a very supportive Navy wife, I am now a supportive Army mom and I send my support all year round to our awesome troops. However, that was not enough. I have also taught my children to love our country while society is saying hate our country. I made my children patriots! I want them to know what we are fighting for.

America has always stood for honesty, hard work and strong family values. Where did we go wrong? Well, we let people slack off from working and we pay them not to work, we have cut God out of everything American, and we have created a society that must have a 2 income family (which has taken family value away). We have created generations of families colloecting food stamps, free health care, free housing and free money. Well, when I put it like that we are very successful! A Day In The Life of Ms. Bee

She cuts off the top of the chip bag and puts it on her head. This time she put on an apron, put on a Big and Rich cd and was signing and dancing.

I am not sure what she didn't want to hear but she went out to my car and put on ear protection.

I got this in an email and thought to myself how true that is. Not that I don't like waitresses and I know the good ones work for every penny they earn but alot of them don't even deserve what they expect us to pay them. I tip a really good waitress very well and I tip a poor waitress very poorly. Hoping she will get the hint and do better for the next customer. Well that isn't the point of the the cartoon. Tithing is very important to Christians, tithing is a chore to other Christians and tithing is none existent for other Christians. Where are you in this? Pray to God and ask him to share with you where you are on this. He will be much more honest with you than you are for yourself. Don't worry if you don't have cash he will show you how to tithe without monetary means.

Dreams, they can be so strange....

Since I have been taking these vitamins I have been dreaming and even remembering them. I sleep through the night pretty much every night. Well last night, or rather this morning, I woke up at to what I thought was the alarm clock, our alarm clock is a radio station. So I was singing the song that was playing on the radio in my dream. Finally, I decided I should get up and go to the restroom. Meanwhile, I thought to myself, why in the world is the alarm going off so blooming early. Then I decided to check the clock for the time, 1:30 am. I thought why in the world did Doug set the alarm for 1:30 in the blooming morning. I got up, walked through the dark cold house. When I got back to my bedroom the alarm clock had been turned off. So I laid back in bed and woke again around 7am. I woke up singing the same song that was in my dream. Since I have been sleeping through the night, I wake up around 7 - 7:30am in the morning. At 6:30 am the alarm clock went off and I laid there trying to figure out if the 1:30 thing was for real or was it a dream. It was the strangest and weirdest feeling ever for me.

Learning Something New Is Always Fun!

The boys came over this weekend and had a blast. We started the day with a talk about gun safety. They learned how to handle a gun around other people. How to hand the gun to the next person gun regardless to if it has bullets or not. They all enjoyed learning to shoot different guns. They got to shot hand guns and shotguns. They found out just because it is small doesn't mean it is not harmful. They also realized that it is not always easy as everyone makes it out to be. Some of the guns had alot of kick and some had next to know kick. They also shot a pump action gun which is always cool. It makes you feel like you are back in the old days.

The Biggest Loser

I started watching reruns of the biggest loser about a year ago I believe. (If you dont know this, the older you get the more time you lose.) I have really enjoyed this show alot. I love the idea behind the show, the transforming of these peoples lives is just plan awesome. The cool thing is is that it not only transforms the contestants life but it also transforms their family members life. I pray it breaks the poor eating habits of the whole family. This show also has the potential to stop the cycle of food abuse. It is very encouraging to me on several different levels. It makes me really think about my lifestyle and how I eat. Which by the way is not good at all. My eating habits change according to the amount of money we have for food.

This season is the biggest season yet. The contestants this season are the heaviest people they have had on the show. The other night I watched the premier show for this season. Watching these contestants talk about themselves and how they got to where they are today, is very interesting. This time we have 2 ex-models on the show. Ex-models? Why and how did they get so big? The youngest contestant they have had is on the show is one of the largest in the history of "The Biggest Loser", very sad. The biggest contestant they have this year is over 400lbs and is a young man. I was in tears listening to this young man. He and all the others really need intervention and prayer. The show is providing the interventing and we can provide the prayer.

I sat watching this show in tears. I was happy and sad all at the same time. Seeing these very young people so over weight was very disheartening to me. Knowing they are basically suffocating themselves with fat. However, listening to them after the second weigh in and seeing the excitement in their eyes when they realized how much weight they had lost in only a week. You could hear in their voices that they had renewed faith in their own ability to lose this weight.
My prayer for these contestants and all the ones before them, is that they really have made the change and are still working on this to this day. I would hate to know that they go back to the way they were after losing so much weight and are bigger than ever.

True Beauty?

So this week a new series started called "True Beauty". This show seems or sounds shallow on the outside looking in. However, I really enjoy watching the contestants grow on these types of shows. I really have enjoyed watching "Beauty and The Geek" each season it has come on. Watching the beauties learn new things and the geeks come out of their shells. This new one (True Beauty) has many twist going on throughout the show to test the contestants heart.

My husband and I were watching as the contestants showed up one by one. They sat down next to each other one by one and made small talk. We kept watching and listening to what they were saying verbally and physically. One of the first contestants was a man from Idaho who is 31. He owns a vitamin store and is a Chip and Dale dancer. He has an awesome body regardless to his age. He is the oldest of all the contestants.

We called it! As soon as the girl, who left the show the first night, showed up we knew she was out by the end of the night. She thought she is the most beautiful person in the world. She also said she has a good heart (she failed to show that day). She looked in every ones files and then tried to lie about it. She did not help a man trying to get into a closed door while holding 8 cups of coffee. Needless to say, she was booting of the "island" that night.

She was asked along with one other contestant "What is true beauty?" She came up with a very stupid answer. Unfortunately I can't remember her answer. I just remember thinking that sure is a stupid and worthless answer. Cheryl Tiegs actually had to give her a hint to what true beauty is. Then she said "Oh Yeah! Yeah!"

Anyway, she doesn't have true beauty!
